George Marcus Salon, located in North Wilmington at the intersection of Silverside Road and Rote 202 (Concord Pike). Up to the minute cuts, styling, extensions, coloring, Relaxers, Keratin treatments and complete make-overs.
My styling career unofficially began at age five when I made sure that my sister’s dolls all received individually unique and fabulous cuts.A contribution that my mother and sister never fully appreciated.
At fifteen I took a shampooing gig at a salon for extra money.By sixteen I had scissors in my hand and was taking clients.
A painfully shy kid, I found my voice and confidence by interacting and forming relationships with those in my chair. As my abilities as a stylist grew, so did my passion for people.
After ten years as a top stylist in one of Wilmington’s most prestigious salons, I opened George Marcus Salon on April 1st, 1994.Everyone thought the joke would be on me.Sixteen years later, I’m still thriving and still in love.
My staff is my family.Helping them realize and develop their talent is my responsibility.Watching them grow personally and professionally, my greatest joy.
My clients are my lifeblood both financially and emotionally.Sharing in their lives gives meaning to my own. They are the canvass to my art.Thirty years later, I still light up when they do.
It’s when we stop challenging ourselves to get better that we begin to fade.I continue to travel the world to study and work along side the best in the business. It keeps my mind and my edges sharp.
Pretension, snobbery, and elitism have never had a home in my salon. All are welcome. All are worthy of the magic we create. So long as you like to laugh.
Power comes from lifting up others. We are proud to support Breast Cancer and Leukemia charities.
My profound thanks to all who have left, and continue to leave, a little piece of their soul and smile in my salon. To those we’ve yet to meet, we eagerly await your contribution to the beautiful craziness.
These two lovely, bright, and amenable ladies are the oil that keeps the engine running. Each bringing a unique presence and skill set to the table, they are driven by a love for the industry, a deep respect and admiration for the stylists they work with, and an inexplicable, cosmic bond with George.
The mother hen, Eylse watches over her nest with a loving and keen eye.She is the face at the desk and the voice on the phone and adds just the right amount of wit, whimsey, edge, and unpredictability to keep everyone laughing and guessing at the same time.Don’t be too shocked if she suddenly and inexplicably breaks out in song.
Amanda, the other familiar face and voice, is our lovely manager and a newly expectant mother of child number two--Congrats, Amanda! An eleven year veteran of the salon, she tried the corporate life but found she couldn’t live without the beautiful madness that comes from working around such diverse, strong, and occasionally crazy personalities

Yes, Samantha looks just as hot in person but don’t be fooled into thinking she’s a just another pretty face with insanely curly hair (the straightening of which serves as the final test for all newly hired stylists). Samantha can do it all. Literally. Not only is she an expert when it comes to coloring, cutting, make-up, waxing, extensions, and updos, but she’s also an avid outdoorswoman, duck owner, daily inspiration source, and gear-head who acts unofficially as the salon mechanic.
We’re not sure exactly what Sam’s clients look forward to the most, her uncompromisingly brilliant hair/skin treatments, her motivational mojo, or finding out what the heck she’s been doing since the last appointment. Whichever it is, though, we do know that everyone who visits her leaves her chair looking and feeling beautiful.
Samantha graduated from Venus Beauty Academy and remains passionate when it comes to education. She attends multiple classes every year including; Wella, Sebastian, permanent thermal straightening, and Extensions. Most recently, Samantha attended a three day class at the Redken Exchange in New York City that encompassed many cutting and coloring techniques.
